The Dartmouth Investment and Philanthropy Program is Dartmouth’s largest undergraduate investment group, managing a $900,000 public equity portfolio. Each year, we distribute a percentage of our capital gains as grants to campus-based charitable organizations.
The Dartmouth Investment and Philanthropy Program (DIPP) was established in 2007 after receiving seed funding from a group of Dartmouth alumni who believed in the importance of real, hands-on investing experience for undergraduates. The organization operates with three primary objectives:
Educate members on value investing principles.
Prepare members for future careers in finance by organizing recruiting events and professional development opportunities.
Give back to the Dartmouth community by donating a significant percentage of our gains to campus-based philanthropic organizations.

We have over 200 active members across 4 class years that participate in weekly meetings featuring student-orchestrated stock pitches, deep dives into specific topics within finance, and alumni speakers.
Our members meet once per week to pitch novel investment ideas and review DIPP’s current portfolio holdings. Each term, members are assigned to work on a stock pitch as part of a team, which allows them to expand their knowledge of the financial industry and develop meaningful experiences.
Our leadership team meets independently once per week and is composed of Portfolio Monitors and Investment Committee members.

DIPP members come from all majors and backgrounds, spanning economics, government, engineering, biology, mathematics, and computer science.
All new members go through a 9-week education program – taught by experienced upperclassmen – which includes a variety of modules to bring new members up to speed on business, finance, strategy, and presentation fundamentals.
Members hone these skills through termly stock pitches that involve industry analysis, company due diligence, financial modeling, and club-wide presentations.
Investment Committee members serve as mentors to underclassmen, helping them navigate the recruiting process with personal experience and advice.

As an organization, we hope to provide members with unique opportunities across finance, educate them on the various career paths, and provide them with the skills needed to succeed in interviews and on the job.
We aim to build meaningful relationships with employers and host private events that introduce our members to individuals and alumni at different firms.
Previous events include information sessions, coffee chats, meet-and-greets, case studies, and alumni talks.
